Philosophy of Social Justice
Social justice is something you live by, the principle of doing what is morally right no matter if it will benefit you or not; whether your work will benefit you shouldn't restrict you from acting out on your beliefs.Social Justice is the fight for what is morally right regardless of race, nationality, gender, class, education, or religious beliefs, but in regard to humanity. Not everyone will support you on your struggle for equity, but it is important to know that just as there are people who disagree with you, there are also people who are just as or even more passionate about the issue. In my philosophy I see “service” as a way of life, to live without seeking reward, to live destroying those barriers that separate us from them, only once you give up bias and just listen and try to understand, when you are willing to change what has already been embedded into your culture in order to have better human interaction can we be able to have equity. As members of society we must be able to give up and change not to conform or become apathetic, apathy is never the answer; but to have interactions with people that we would usually not connect with. As a believer in restorative justice, I believe that when people know each other, not only by name but by talking and sharing experiences, they are less likely to not hurt each other; this belief got me interested in this topic and lead me to chose as a topic for my article for R_WURD Magazine, the topic is a social justice issue that is usually only seen from the side of the victim, this side is usually romanticized by media.
